Q: i understand everyone changes.. but at the same time, are we ever gonna get a taste of the boys we fell in love with? we miss old fall out boy, the kids that were exactly like us. the people that made us smile and dance and sing along obnoxiously. we miss the kids in chicago, the ones we related to, the ones we felt like we knew on a personal level. we miss you guys. and we miss being your friends, not just your fans.
A: how do we be the old fall out boy exactly? this question always kind of confuses me. due to experiences and growing older we have become different people. yet at heart i think if anyone ever really liked us those parts of us are still the same. do you mean like play small shows? because we do that sometimes. play secret shows? we do that sometimes? meet kids outside of meet and greets? if you see me walking around at the blink tour ive done that? play old songs? we do when we have a long enough set. but if you mean have the same haircuts and write the same words- it just wont happen. and it makes me tend to think that some people never got what we wanted them to get out of this. not trying to sound harsh. just wanted to answer this question honestly.

People aren't going to be happy either way. If the music stayd the same, they would complain about a lack of depth and variety. Because it's changed, they're complaining that it doesn't evoke the same feelings. Forgive me, but get everyone needs to get over it. I can't play any instrument to save my life, but I can definitely appreciate how amazing it must feel to know you have grown as a musician. The idea applies for just about any skill. Because at the end of the day, artists need to be at peace with themselves and the things they create. The reason we are all able enjoy artistic perfection is because those people strive for it- they aren't satisfied till they do. Things like fame and fans are an added bonus.

“not a bad change!”

i don't find the change bad what so ever. but you did DEF. change. i think the first time i heard of FOB was bout 5 or 6 years ago... when i saw the "sugar we're going down" music vid. on MTV. u guys are much different from that time. but just cuz ur slightly (and i do mean slightly) more mature and have a bigger range in vocabulary. But i find that a better change. :) We love u FOB!

“Nice answers”

It's nice to read that. Nice answers! free advertising |employment|latex mattress

I agree with Pete on this issue. Fall Out Boy have changed, but they're getting older and have a right to try out different types of music. Besides if they kept releasing all their music with the same kinda sound, it would get dull and boring. If you really do like fall out boy you'd stick with them the whole way through their musical journey, not just like one album and then give up on them. Pete, good on you for telling that girl the honest truth. Lara. xo.

“you will always be the best!”

i think you will be the best no matter what. Because i think if you just play what you think bout anything and if this is you then im going to still love you all forever! I REALLY LOVE PETE!!!!!

“Give Them a Break”

Ok, ya they've changed. Not necessarily for the better but not for the worse either. Well PEOPLE CHANGE. I do feel like that they are coming out with less killer songs but when they come out with a killer song, its AMAZING. I feel like they have a right to do whatever they want with thier music. And if you dont like Folie A Duex, fine dont listen to that. And if you dont like Take This To Your Grave, fine dont listen to that. NOONES MAKING YOU LISTEN TO THE STUFF BY THEM YOU DONT LIKE. I personally love to rock out to ALL thier music, and im actually on a mission to have all thier songs. Yes theyve changed, but I still want to meet them as much as I did in 2005...... the only thing that peeves me off is people who say Thnks fr th mmrs is their best song. Dont get me wrong its good but i dont think its thier best. My personal favorite (of this week) is You're Crashing, But Youre No Wave. Keep rocking Fall Out Boy, I hope to see you live someday.

“thank you pete :)”

i totally and 100% agree w pete on this one , you honstley have to see that there not just musicains but people w true and deep feelings, who yes of course change, like everybody im sure you have changed too, you cant be the same person as you used to be as situations, feelings, thoughts and everything change, not being mean at all and i hope it doesnt sound mean but take a look at yourself and see if you are truely a fan because if you were you would stay w them and be part of the adventure w pete, andy, joe and patrick and not judge them , also if there music and lyrics where the same people would get sick of it who wants to hear the same stuff over and over, i think it is great that they still take time to meet there fans and really interact w the fans, and really let them meet the real them, its great and makes you respect them even more but of couse they cant get to every single fan, i personaly think that fall out boy have always been amazing and still are, there songs might of changed but they are still amazing musicains and people and i myself will always love them, also thank you pete for being so truethful, and amazing it makes me respect you even more, not that you dont be honest or anything xx

“Absotively Posolutlely”

That is absolutely correct. If you really (Not saying you do this is hypothetical) have such a deep aversion towards Fall Out Boy because they matured and their words are not exactly the same as they were when they first started out, then you never got it in the first place. As stated it's not being harsh it's answering a question honestly.

“i get it..both of them”

i get what the person is trying to say... its hard watching the guys sign their first autograph on the streets of illinois to papperazzi following them around everywhere... but yeah pete is right also... i see where hes getting at.. i like their old albums better not because they have changed for the worse but because i just like the sound better :) ... just saying >.<

“Change?”

Sure, they've changed but they'll always be the same "Fall Out Boy." I mean, everyone changes. I'm pretty sure we all have; well, I know I'm not crying and screaming "bottle" anymore and I hope no one else is. We all change over time, as we get older. It's natural - we should expect it, as much as we don't want to. Fall Out Boy will always be awesome, just maybe in a different way than before.

“I could be over-reaching but...”

I think, for the most part, when people say they miss old Fall Out Boy they mean that they miss how in the beginning this felt like it was a family. Like there wasn't a great divide between performer and those being performed for. Maybe I mean that it was more intimate. Like you were part of something bigger than you, and that if you got one small part of it you were special to someone you'd never met before. The cousin of your cousin's cousin. Or something. But Fall Out Boy really hasn't changed. They've grown and matured. It's harder for them to be as intimate with us because there are alot of us now. Too many, maybe. The real people who have changed are the fans. We used to love every thing the band did just because they did it. We liked the mindfuckery and the fact that sometimes Pete could be a dick in the best possible way. But the fans act like they don't want the boys to be happy. Everything they do is some how offensive to the fans. They've changed, they've let the fame go to their heads. Maybe some of you should think about how much more hostile you've become towards the band since they became mainstream... And I'm really not trying to start something with anyone, this is just my opinion. What's that rule about stones and throwing?

“what he said”

changing is a way of like, and you can't always hide that your changing... and for people like FOB... it shows in their music... i still love them, and always will

“I don't agree.”

I just don't ...people change, true. But we're all still the same inside...just like you guys! <3

“I am FOB's friend!”

FOB, with time (like anyone else) you've kind of matured, and so has your music. Not that your old music was immature or bad. I love all of your albums past and present and even though you've become considerably more famous and well-known since TTTYG, there's still this terrific, relatable quality about you that continues to satisfy old fans and to draw in new ones. The reason I became such a huge fan of your work is because you always felt like friends of mine rather than distant celebrities and that feeling has never changed. I' m still a fan because you're still my friends

“stay golden”

Don't worry Peter, SOme of us get it... We always have and always will. <33

“,,,,”

i've loved fall out boy through thick and thin from the time i was in fifth grade, up until now in my senior year of high school. sometimes i do miss the old haircuts and lyrics because it was such a comforting feeling to me growing up. the new fall out boy is wonderful; i adore you boys for your bold and daring choices, not only in music, but also in lifestyles. i guess i just miss the intimacy of old fall out boy. the little band that none of my other friends cared to like. my secret heroes. i guess the future just freaks me out a bit. again, i would like to emphasize; fall out boy is still my favorite band, and i wouldn't give them up for anything in the world. their new music is just as good as their old music. i love fall out boy forever and ever.

“P.S.”

I've wrestled with deleting my comment below. I really really really dont want to cause an Internet battle. Its just what was on my mind at the moment. I still stick to what I said, but i might have been a little harsh. Again, I just want to apologize for anything i might have said to offend any one. I was just really ticked at some of these comments.

“Reminder.”

To be quite honest. I think this is all bullshit. I was one of those kids who came on here everyday, from the start of fob till about a year ago. In the midst of all that something pulled me away. Today I had a sudden urge to come here, I dont know why, and I regret that I did, because I didnt reconize this site at all. They HAVE changed. Thats obvious, and not my point. My point is, we've lost the boys that sang perceptions and lullibies to us, we've lost the twinnies, we've lost the major concept of what their music was. Dont get me wrong, I still blast fob all the time, but its not the songs all of you all seem to know. Its the songs that made them. Its the songs that held them down till everyone came around. Its the songs on TTTYG and FUCT. I commend them for getting on with their lives, but for those of you that say they've changed for the better, and for the times, and all that shit: I want to let you know that THAT isnt fob to the fans/friends that were with them since the day they started. I want to ask you why its wrong that we dont dig the music thats coming out now from them? Sorry wrong wording. Why we dont like it as much? You answer me that and I'll say, cus its not the real FOB that we knew. Theres two kinds of fans right now. Previous and going... and Currently showing. Theres a difference. If you took this in the wrong way, dont bother your time bad mouthing me and telling me im wrong, and daddadaa. Im stating my opinion, which is something that ive always done on here, and I dont want the unneccessary bashing to draw away from your current fads and obsessions. A lot of you wont understand. But a lot of you will. Im just rambling for those that care. Bottom line. I miss them. I wish them the best. Nothing will replace those first albums, nothing will compare. k. thanks. bye.

“(y)”

totally agree with "ilovehim" xD

“w00t?”
